Preventive Parasite Control for Your Pet!

subheader

pet parasite controlParasite prevention is an important component in your pet’s heath care program. There are many types of parasites that can infect your pet, such as fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites, and heartworms. Westlake Animal Hospital provides a variety of preventive parasite control options for your dog or cat.

Included in your pet’s annual wellness exam is an internal and external parasite screening. We offer a variety of flea and tick treatments, such as a medicated bath by our pet grooming service. There are many options, and we are available to help you select the best one for your pet. Preventing infestations is often easier than treatment. We offer a selection of effective preventive products for both dogs and cats. You can pick up treatments at our onsite pharmacy, order online, or have our concierge service deliver the medication to you.

Fleas and ticks can infect your home and bite your family as well as your pets. These insects feed on blood and can cause a variety of health problems, from allergic reactions to infections and serious tick-borne illnesses. Please continue fleas and tick prevention year round to maximize the protection.

Heartworms & Other Internal Parasites

Severe health issues can be caused by heartworms and other internal parasites. Heartworms are transferred by mosquitoes and can affect indoor cats as well. We recommend a blood test and a fecal exam annually, which are required to diagnose internal parasites. Parasites can be easily transmitted from one pet to another. Additionally, intestinal parasites can be transmitted from pet to owner. Following a strict parasite preventive plan offers the maximum protection for your pet and your family.
