Pet Laser Surgery in Austin, Texas

The use of lasers to perform surgical procedures has proven success in both dogs and cats. There are many advantages of laser surgery over traditional methods, including:

  • Less pain
  • Reduced bleeding
  • Minimal swelling
  • Faster recovery time
  • Fewer pain medications

Uses for Laser Surgery

We use laser surgery for many types of veterinary procedures, such as:

  • Airway and Elongated Soft Palate (roof of the mouth) surgeries—Brachiocephalic or short-nosed dog breeds (pugs, bulldogs, Pekingese, Boston terriers, and French bulldogs) are especially prone to airway diseases. In any dog, airway conditions can become life threatening when they impact a pet's ability to breathe. Surgery to open up the nostrils and trim the soft palate will allow patients to breath easy and prevent complications.
  • Declawing — Our philosophy is: Declawing of cats is a surgical procedure. We don't recommend this procedure for every cat. If other techniques to modify behavior have failed to prevent scratching, declawing is an option to keep the cat in the home. Studies have shown that use of a laser as a part of this procedure reduces pain and aids recovery. We are aggressive with our pain management with these surgeries to ensure the comfort of the cat during recovery.
  • Oral surgery
  • Lump and tumor removal
