Routine wellness exams for cats allow us to establish baseline health data and serve as an early detection method for minor health concerns before they turn into major ones. Even if your cat doesn’t go outside, it is very important to have semi-annual health exams.
What to Expect at Your Cat’s Annual Exam
At Westlake Animal Hospital, we understand that a visit to the vet can be stressful on your cat. Our facility has a designated wing which houses our feline lobby and exam rooms. This provides our feline patients with a less stressful environment away from the normal sights, smells, and sounds of a veterinary hospital.
When you arrive for your adult cat wellness visit, your pet will receive a comprehensive physical exam, nutritional consultation, and a vaccination review, as well as additional annual early detection testing.
Additional annual early detection testing includes:
- Intestinal parasite screen
- Adult blood profile—Screens for liver, kidney, anemia, and electrolytes
- Feline FIV, leukemia virus, and heartworm
Your cat’s semi-annual exam will include a vaccination review. When necessary, boosters should be administered to ensure safe and effective protection against feline disease. Our common feline vaccinations include:
- FVRCP vaccine
- Feline leukemia
Westlake Animal Hospital provides cat concierge service for your convenience. We are available for round-trip transportation to the animal hospital for your cat’s wellness exam. If you prefer, a member of our veterinary team can examine your cat in your home.
